Pacifica.

Set on a lush five-acre property on Tamborine Mountain, this residence by Hurley Architects transforms an overgrown, forgotten market garden into a serene retirement sanctuary. This home is grounded in sub-tropical design, balancing rugged practicality with architectural simplicity.

To accommodate both intimate daily living and extended stays from loved ones, the home is arranged into distinct pavilions. A delicate glazed walkway connects the private master wing to the active living zones, creating a quiet spatial pause that connects the occupants with the shifting weather and the outdoors. Drawing inspiration from traditional Queenslanders and Japanese simplicity, the entirely single-level structure floats gently above the surrounding landscape.

Within the central pavilion, extensive glazing and sliding doors dissolve the boundaries between the interior and the landscape, creating a breezy, dual-aspect connection to the outdoors.

Hurley Architects acknowledge the traditional custodians both past and present of the lands of which we live and work.
