Causey House.

 

Located in the inner-city suburb of Stones Corner, Causey House by Hurley Architects transforms a neglected Queenslander home into a quiet, nature-focused retreat. The design balances sustainable principles with practical everyday living, creating a private sanctuary within an urban setting.

To free up space inside the original home, the kitchen and dining areas were moved into a semi-detached rear extension. This layout clearly separates quiet resting areas from active living spaces. An 'airlock' hallway bridges the original structure and the new addition, offering a peaceful moment to pause as you move between zones.

Aiming to increase northern aspect, the detached additional building captures the northern light deep into the new kitchen and dining extension. The elevated structure creates a boardwalk like path above the plants.
